André Salata

Salata_Andre - PICAndré Salata is a professor of Sociology at the Pontifical Catholic University of Porto Alegre (PUCRS), in Brazil. He holds a PhD and a Master`s degree in Sociology from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), and from 2012 to 2013 he was academic visitor at the University of Oxford. From 2008 to 2014 he has worked as researcher at the Metropolis Observatory, and this year he became coordinator of the Brazilian Democracy Studies Centre, at the Pontifical Catholic University of Porto Alegre. His work explores social stratification and Inequalities, mainly dealing with quantitative methodology. In the last years he has been conducting research on the Brazilian middle class, income and educational inequalities, having recently published articles and books on those topics.
